- WARNING - Before we proceed, I stipulate that much of what is to follow is creepy at best, terrifying at worst. I’m a man writing here about what other men demand of women. I get it. Given the volume of crazy, I know it’s easy to ignore or lose track of all the regressive aspects of MAGA, but in recent days, frightening threads have been woven into an ugly blanket of MAGA-Man fascination with women’s uteruses. This is actually happening, and we should not look away; so buckle up, here we go…
Last year, Donald Trump, a convicted sexual abuser and a man credibly accused of similar crimes by at least 271 other women, promised women he would protect them “whether they like it or not.” And then just three weeks ago, he began taking those promises much further, beaming in the White House while proclaiming he wished to be known as “the Fertilization President.” Trump went on to explain, “We’re going to have tremendous, tremendous goodies in the bag for women, too, the women between the fertilization and all of the other things that we’re talking about. It’s going to be, it’s going to be great,”2
Vice President JD Vance has also added his demands, leading a recent DC rally with the words: "Let me say very simply: I want more babies in the United States of America."3 This should not surprise. Vance is a man with a long history of speaking about his desires for women’s bodies, bemoaning the low American birth rate, and bashing “childless cat ladies.”
A key insight into the Vice President’s thinking is his open support for the idea that the ‘Whole Purpose of the Postmenopausal Female Is to Help Raise Grandkids.”4 This is a casual reference to a much more official and guiding pro-natalist concept known as “Titus II women.” The New Testament gospel verse is central to Vance’s worldview, where young women exist to serve their husbands and raise children; older women exist to ensure it happens. “Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.” Titus 2 Verses 3-5.5
It all seems cut from some dystopian TV show, and there is, in fact, a direct correlation with just such a program. Last week, as all of this MAGA womb-weridness was ramping up, Sara mentioned the new season of The Handmaid’s Tale was out, telling me “We should watch it, but I don’t know…I mean, I don’t know if I can take it, we are living this shit every day.” Indeed - she was right. But “What the hell?” I said wishfully, “Turn it on. Maybe more of the bad guys will die.”
In the excellent Hulu series based on Margaret Atwood's book of the same title, a puritanical authoritarian regime presides over Gilead, a country that has replaced the democracy previously known as the United States. Powerful Gilead men (commanders) and their submissive enabler wives are distraught over low birthrates, leading them to a system of kidnapping and grooming of fertile young women and then forcing them to serve as live-in baby-making “handmaids” to the white Christian rulers. Between the rapes, abductions, powerful men, bible verses and sexual overtones, life still proceeds, and when it does “May the Lord open” and “Blessed Be the Fruit” are the required greetings and responses. We should not be surprised if strict adoption of these phrases is the next Trump executive order. Hell, at this point, I think we should probably expect it.
Even though Atwood published the book in 1985, many who watch the TV series, including us, have noted that the eerie predictive storylines seem intertwined with, if not outright mimicking, many MAGA scenarios. You want to believe it’s all made up, but it all feels very real. “It’s like a damned documentary,” Sara said after one particularly poignant scene.
Given the shock of the storyline, it's easy to assume the worst of Atwood’s scenes are, in fact, contrived. But, she has been continually emphatic that even the worst are taken directly from historic real-world examples of human subjugation; “I made a rule for myself: I would not include anything that human beings had not already done in some other place or time, or for which the technology did not already exist. I did not wish to be accused of dark, twisted inventions, or of misrepresenting the human potential for deplorable behavior.” In other words, it's all happened before, and as we can now see from MAGA, it's all being considered again.6
Just like in the frightening fictional Gilead, MAGA men who are oddly fascinated with the reproduction of women are now converting their desires into actual policies. As proof, in a recent and well-documented official order, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, a man with nine children, declared that the administration would pull federal construction funds from areas of the country with low birth rates and award them to regions where more women behave as he desires, “give preference to communities with marriage and birth rates higher than the national average.”7
Of course, this is all woven tightly with the vehement anti-abortion stances of MAGA devotees across the country, men like Steve Daines, Ryan Zinke, and Greg Gianforte here in Montana, all of whom have done nothing but cheer Musk, Vance, and Trump. Gianforte not only supports the weirdness, but he also personally funds a “crisis pregnancy center”8 where women are tricked or dissuaded from exercising their rights over their bodies. Men like Gianforte are developing younger acolytes, too, men like the young anti-abortion zealot and Montana State Rep Lukas Schubert, the 19-year-old who regularly posts fetus pictures and echoes Musk and Vance with words like “We need to address this issue and support pro-natalist policies before we are condemned.”
Now, Trump, Vance, and Musk are taking it further on the national stage, proposing a “$5000 baby bonus” from the federal government for any woman who submits to their desires.9 This, while they slash Medicaid, Head Start, and other government programs that help young kids and struggling mothers. While their policies hint at eugenics, Musk, who is Trump’s favorite advisor, does more than hint, often retweeting and amplifying leaders of white European racist organizations who call for people like Elon to outproduce the minorities. Musk is taking it to heart, already fathering 14 children from at least four different women and aggressively seeking even more, going so far as to offer his sperm to women over dinner and through direct messages on Twitter.10
These men are not hiding their aims, and Musk has even committed them to writing, explaining his burning desire to reproduce himself at even greater speed to one of his baby-mothers even as she was pregnant with one of his children, “To reach legion-level before the apocalypse, we will need to use surrogates.”11
Now, if that does not make you want to run off and make babies, I don’t know what will.

The overturning of Roe v. Wade, the ascendency of broligarchs & manosphere podcasters, using DEI as a sexist slur, cash incentives for more white babies -- it's all patriarchy's last breath. The women I know are resisting like June. It's Mayday, mf!
If this doesn’t outrage women enough to become the resistance, what will? Go re-read about what he wrote about the US Dept of Transportation head…THIS IS GILEAD!!
