Ryan, you're overlooking something. The things Republicans and the rich are taking from the public don't affect them. Money to buy food, medical access, or pay bills? They have plenty. This is a show of power and disdain, but it has no functional meaning to them. Even something like destroying ecology in its variety of ways. Take Zinke. Where does he live? What's in his daily environment? Does it affect him if mining leases abut boundary waters or the arctic?
The upward transfer of money is not because the rich need more money. They already have no use for the money they have. And it's not because they don't like working people. (I like the way you categorized rich people and working people. It's not that subtle, but it strongly suggests that rich people don't work. Or they don't get rich by working. Being rich is one thing. Working is another. They're not related.) If the rich bothered to think about it, they'd realize they need working people. It's partly that they don't care about them, or about anyone, and partly that billboard you mentioned: they're advertising their power. The result is less important than the fact of having power.
It's already being said that the bill the House passed will not survive the Senate intact, perhaps because of all the petitions. Although it's interesting that Senators, 2/3 of whom don't have to run for re-election in '26, might impose some degree of sanity to it, while Representatives, every one of whom can get unelected in '26 were full steam ahead. Are they assuming and hoping the Senate will save them from themselves, or were they too stupid to think about it or to care?
No matter how horrific and extensive the harms to individuals, the environment, the rule of law, and the economy, this bill will not serve to wake up any of the MAGA moron voters who are responsible. That is because they stupidly get their “news” from horrible sources. The MAGA will continue to succeed in their supreme efforts to know nothing and to understand nothing.
I got an email from Daines pretty much saying a bunch of BS but also admitting they have to reform Medicare because people are receiving more than they put in. Baby boomers retiring and not enough people are having kids to make up for the losses by 2030 blah, blah. He also talked about the debt ceiling, also blaming Medicare, what an idiot. Not one word about taxing the millionaires though. If you’d like to read it I can email it to you. It’s a word salad but it does say Medicare needs to be reformed, as well as Medicaid. I’d love to put that letter on a billboard. Are you seeing people change their minds about any of these guys? I want to make it my mission to get Daines, Downing and Zinke out in 2026! I do love the how the musty ass white African and the orange clown are fighting though, we knew it was a matter of time. Damn what a shit show we live in. I cannot wait to get his orange ass out of the white supremacy house.
I got the same BS letter from Daines as you did. I'd like to join your mission in getting Daines, Zinke, Sheehy, and Downing out in the next election cycle! How Montana elected these POS is beyond me! :)
In trump pt. 2 he is making Nixon look like a choirboy again. Eventually, Nixon had the grace to resign.
Trump has done more harm to America in the last decade than any president who preceded him. And the US has had some pretty crummy presidents.
Thank you for what you do, Ryan!
Hopefully, the harsh reality of this Big Ugly Bill breaks the spell Trump has cast on a large portion of voters in this country.
